On the 28th of June the Netherlands Iran Business Council (NI-BC) received a large trade mission from the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA). The mission, led by the honorable Mr. Golam Hossein Shafeie, President of the ICCIMA, was accompanied among others by high officials from the ICCIMA: Mr. Mohammadreza Karbasi, Deputy International Affairs; Mr. Keivan Kashefi, Vice President; Mr. Kerdabadi, Economic Council of the Iranian Embassy in The Hague, and other high representatives of the ICCIMA as well as Iranian companies.

During their 2-day visit the members of the trade mission were offered a special programme in the Netherlands of which the NI-BC was also one of the organizers. The meeting organized by the NI-BC was held in the Hilton Double Tree Hotel in Amsterdam from where the participants had a wonderful view on the canals of Amsterdam.

Over the last 4 years, ICCIMA and the NI-BC developed warm relationships. Dr. Jan Siemons (Chairman NI-BC) and Mr. Kaveh Mohammad Pour (Managing Director NI-BC) gratefully enjoyed Mr. Shafeie’s hospitality in Mashhad, where NI-BC’s plans for expanding trade and investment between Iran and Europe were discussed. In October 2014, they had the pleasure to receive Mr. Shafeie during his visit to the Netherlands.
The purpose of the ICCIMA – NI-BC meeting was to further strengthen the bond between the two organizations, follow-up on the plans to expand trade and investment and to provide the opportunity for Iranian and Dutch companies to meet. The Iranian and Dutch companies that were present are active in a variety of sectors, such as agriculture, horticulture, agri-food, water, energy, packaging, engineering, oil & gas, import/export, plastic recycling, tax & auditing, and sports.

After officially welcoming and expressing thanks to the members of the trade mission, lively and constructive talks were held on the close relations between ICCIMA and the NI-BC and their business members.
All companies presented their businesses activities and were given the chance to share their ideas, needs, questions as well as the opportunities and challenges they see in their type of business.

During the meeting it was agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Iran Netherlands Chamber of Commerce and the Netherlands Iran Business Council in which further details will be laid out in more detail in which way to co-operate in the field of trade, investment and the exchange of knowledge. The intention is to develop a sustainable relationship for the future.
Furthermore, it became clear that there are numerous opportunities and fields of common interest between the ICCIMA and the NI-BC, and also among the various companies who were present. Therefore, it was decided that the ICCIMA will carry out an investigation among the Iranian companies and compose a list which comprises the specific needs, wishes and opportunities that they have. By means of this list the NI-BC will consequently contact those specific European companies and organizations that can co-operate and partner with these Iranian companies.

NI-BC is looking back at a fruitful and constructive meeting and is looking forward to the follow up! We thank all the participants for their attendance and valued contributions to the meeting.
